What inspired your producer name? And where did you get the name from?

Like most of us from 2009-11, I was a Twitter troll. I would roast people on Twitter and go viral with jokes. I changed my name from JMuzik to JayUncut because I was raw and unfiltered. With the followers I gained from Twitter, I would find artists to work with. [The] rest was history.

What is your genre, and how would you describe your sound and style?

My favorite genre is R&B. I grew up in church so I was around melodies and harmonies, riffs and runs, chords and transitions all my life. Young MA said I had a very solid, yet simple sound. Very easy to rap/sing to.

When did you start doing music and when did you record your first record?

I was always playing music all my life, but I started taking it seriously once I met Regina Belle 15 years ago. She gave me an opportunity and I learned I could make money producing music. [In] 2007, Regina Belle flew me out to Houston to record a gospel record for her. I produced it then arranged it with the band. It ended up on her project Love Forever Shines called “In This Place”. It’s actually a great inspiring record.

Do you have any life changing stories or incidents that impacted your music career, your decision to do music, or your journey?

After I landed my first placement with Regina Belle, I got lazy. I got a little money and started tricking off. I was blowing money in strip clubs, gambling in poker, chasing women, [and] putting my energy in toxic relationships. I was doing everything but making music. I went broke. Like, broke broke. Meanwhile my brother, Cassius Jay, who I started music with was thriving-producing for Justin Bieber, then Bankroll Fresh. He started making money. I let 5 years go by being a bum while watching my bro come up. So I left my toxic relationship and started finding new artists to work with. I met a super dope artist named Noell who just needed someone to take her music seriously. I was hungry. She was too. We linked and met so many people while traveling the world. Those connections turned into more connections and my network grew each year as well as my sound. Now, I’m a producer at Sony ATV and Rubi Rose’s main producer. I’ve said in a IG post- [the] only two people I owe my music career to is Noell and Rubi.

In your opinion, what makes you stand out from other/current producers out there? I have a love for independent artists. They say I have the most organized beat pack in the industry. And I usually give it away- like literally send the link to anybody who wants it. Of course business is handled once you record to any beats, but I try to stay accessible to artists who are trying to come up.

Has any of your music and/or content gone viral?

My most popular song up to date is, “He In His Feelings,” by Rubi Rose.

How did you meet Rubi Rose?

I was developing an artist and I told her to find a feature to put on her record we were working on. So, she called one of her best friends at the time, Rubi Rose. Rubi pulled up to my studio and she was super polite. She had just the one song out at the time, “Big Mouth.” I knew she was going to be major. She had such a distinctive voice. As time went by, I brought in different creatives to help enhance the infamous sound of Rubi. We created a bond and it’s been an amazing journey ever since. That’s my lil sis for life. Anything she needs she can have from me. I never hold beats for artists. But she definitely gets first dibs on anything I cook up.

How many artists have you produced with to date? Please include NAME and YEAR/DATES.

Rubi Rose, Young MA, Lloyd, Jacquees, YK Osiris, Vory, Cuban Doll, Ace Hood, Dej Loaf, Dreezy and many more Indi artists.

What are some of your “Must Mentions?”

It’s still being written. Ask me again in 5 years
